MLH!

matthew's engaged! matthew's engaged! matthew's engaged!!!!! and if this is the way you're finding out, then maybe you guys aren't as good of friends as you thought...hmm....he is not, however, engaged to carrie rollwagen, the girl in the picture, but to becca reisinger...and i have no idea if her last name is spelled correctly!!! BECCA HUTCHENS has a nice ring to it, don't you think? anyway, it's just the only picture of matthew i could find. notice the look of "you scoundral" that carrie is giving to matthew, as usual. anyway again, this is SUCH good news on so many levels. matthew needs a good woman to keep him in line, and i do believe becca will do just that. that's good #1. they're getting married around christmastime this year, which means their engagement won't be very long, which means they don't have to wait around to be married. that's good #2. they're getting married in orlando, hopefully AFTER christmas, which means that we'll get to go to the wedding. that's good #3. but the best of all, good #4, is that WE GET TO GO TO DISNEYWORLD!!!!! seriously. there ain't NO WAY that we're going to orlando when we have TIME OFF ALREADY and NOT go to disneyworld. *whew* i can hardly contain myself!!!!

in other news, i can't remember what else i was going to talk about. so i'll just sign off and get some work done.

mccallie reception

here's a few shots from our reception in the beautiful mccallie dining hall! (i have friends who are interested in seeing them - so rather than emailing the giant things, i just posted them here...hooray!) you can click on each picture to make it bigger. enjoy!

coming in! that corner of food you can see in the background is the northwest corner - they had food stations set up in the northwest, northeast, and southwest corners.

here's a shot of pretty much the whole room. we had about 350 people at the wedding...a bit fewer at the reception. so there was plenty of sitting room even with the big area left clear (seen in the picture above)

we didn't have dancing but we did this for 2 seconds before leaving (that's why no one is in the background!) you can sort of see the layout of the room. (that back corner was the kids table - covered it in white butcher paper, gave them markers and various other things to keep them occupied!)

here's the brides cake table. we provided the cloth and flowers and stands, but they set it all up. we were BEYOND pleased! (the cake is from jackson's bakery and is SO affordable and it was ridiculously delicious!)

just for fun, here's the groom's cake from jackson's as well. (chris plays music - that's why there's musical notes on it) again, ridiculously delicious!!! (they give free samples, too!) :)

being able to spill outside was really nice. there's a little covered area too.

we had most of our pictures taken on the patio.

we left through bubbles - the front doors are a great location for people to line up!

food

4 pork chops - sprinkle each side with 1/4 tsp salt & 1/4 tsp pepper; cook 4 minutes each side in appox 2 tbs olive oil, turning once.

2 cups squash cut into cubes, 1 medium onion cut into wedges, 2 tsp fresh chopped rosemary - stir in with chops. poke holes in chops to absorb juices. add 1/4 cup chicken broth & 1/4 cup orange juice and bring to boil. cook on medium, covered for 10 minutes.

2 medium chopped zucchini, 1 tsp chopped fresh sage - stir in with mixture. cook covered for 5 minutes. chops will be done at 160 degrees.

put meat and veggies in serving dish and keep warm. bring juices to boil then cook on simmer for 5 minutes or until reduced to 1/4 cup. pour over food.

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!! (we served it with couscous flavored with rosemary, lemon, and butter) it was our dinner last night in celebration of our 2 month anniversary, and it was my lunch just a few minutes ago. it's SO good and it's LOW FAT to boot!!!! *sigh* God is so good to give us taste buds and such awesome combinations of flavors.

and i don't even feel like i need to go running to burn it off!!
